They were taken to meet Ed Miliband and Shadow Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport Harriet Harman by Redcar's Labour Parliamentary Candidate Anna Turley.
Anna said:
'I was so proud to take Frankie and Gel down to Parliament. Ed was really impressed with the work they both did locally and listened to their views on the importance that sport and teamwork played in transforming young people's lives'

ROUND TWO OF SITE BACKING FOR TRUST
The main Wilton International site companies have given some added punch to a job creating charity led by former professional boxer Frankie Wales.
Ensus, Huntsman Polyurethanes, Lotte Chemical UK, SABIC and Sembcorp have thrown their weight behind Redcar Development Trust with a £10,000 donation.
It is the second year running that the site companies have backed RDT, based at Redcar’s Coatham Memorial Hall.
In 2013 a similar amount provided the impetus for a range of projects, including one which saw a dozen jobless youngsters gain the skills and work experience to secure apprenticeships with PD Ports.
Dr Douglas Annan, Sembcorp Senior Vice President and Site Director, representing the companies, said: “Frankie’s team at RDT have shown fantastic initiative and enterprise in utilising the money for the benefit of the entire community, young and old, and deserve our support for another year. We look forward to seeing what can be achieved.”
Frankie said: “We were absolutely knocked out to gain the support of the Wilton site companies for a second year and this money will go far in helping people in the Redcar area with training, business start up, education and employment opportunities.”
The work of the trust has been recognised by Prince Charles and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown among others and the organisation has established close working relationships with a number of large local and regional employers. It has set up businesses with the support of Business in the Community and its members Northumbrian Water, Greggs the baker, PD Ports and Billingham-based firms Johnson Matthey Catalysts and Lucite International.
It also has a close relationship with Redcar and Cleveland Council, local schools and colleges and works in partnership with the Primary Care Trust on a number of health-related projects.

Intergenerational day - 05.08.13
STRONG bonds are developing between young and old in Redcar thanks to an initiative backed by the Wilton site companies.
Pensioners and teenagers enjoyed the first of a monthly series of social get-togethers organised by Frankie Wales.
Frankie, devised the idea of bringing the generations together on a regular basis as one of a series of community initiatives funded by £12,000 donated by the site companies.
The inaugural event, at the town’s Coatham Memorial Hall, drew around 90 pensioners and young people and involved singing, dancing and a wide range of other entertainment.
The event has benefits for both generations. Not only does it encourage many elderly people to get out of the house, but it also brings them into direct contact with a generation they wouldn’t ordinarily mix with, helping to break down some of the barriers of understanding and helping them to see the positive side of young people.
From a young person’s perspective it encourages respect for the elderly and the recognition that society is about everyone. For those young people not in work, it demonstrates voluntary community work which always looks good on a CV.
Tom Hill, 18 who is currently unemployed said ‘’Days like today help people like myself gain work experience and encourage the unemployed to work as a team and with people of different ages. Frankie works really hard to help us gain employment and in return we help the elderly have a good day’’

the big connect - 12.07.2013
Frankie was invited to the Big Connect event which was a high-profile, interactive experience, showcasing the power of effective partnerships between business and community organisations by creating an inspirational way of sharing stories, learning and successful collaborations. It brought to life how the responsible business movement, convened by Business in the Community, can influence the future of community collaboration.
The event represented neighbourhoods and partnerships from all over England in a big ‘main exchange’ arena – hosted by a growing network of Business Connectors and a sample of their local community and voluntary organisations they are working with on the ground.
Learning sessions provided delegates with opportunities to learn from a wide range of companies and voluntary sector organisations.

WILTON SITE GIVES £12K BACKING FOR REDCAR
COMMUNITY & JOBS INITIATIVE
That’s a belter!
Redcar entrepreneur Frankie Wales has praised the generosity of companies at the Wilton International site who have thrown their weight behind his battle to bring a community together and get more young people into work.
The six major firms at the site – SABIC UK Petrochemicals, Sembcorp Utilities UK, Huntsman Polyurethanes, Lotte Chemical UK, Ensus and GDF Suez – have decided to donate a total of £12,000 to the Redcar Development Trust (RDT) this year.
Frankie has drawn praise from Prince Charles and others for more than a decade of work in the community centred around reducing crime and anti social behaviour by encouraging boxing as a vehicle for increasing self discipline and self-esteem.
However RDT, established three years ago and given charitable status last year, has now set itself the broader aim of improving the quality of life for people through the Redcar area with the provision of a range of social welfare and leisure/recreational activities.
Redcar’s Coatham Memorial Hall, where RDT is based, is currently used by around 3,600 people a month taking part in around 50 group activities ranging from keep fit and line dancing classes to support groups for those looking to stop smoking.
Corporate supporters of RDT include one of the Prince’s charities - Business in the Community – plus PD Ports, Greggs and Northumbrian Water.
RDT scored an early success with a “Fit to Work” scheme devised in partnership with PD Ports which saw 15 young jobseekers complete a 12-week “Pre-Employment” programme which led to 13 of them gaining sponsored apprenticeships at the port and all have now secured permanent positions with the company. The remaining 2 have returned to full time education.
Other projects currently in development at Coatham Memorial Hall include a scheme to bring young people attending the boxing club together with elderly residents for companionship and leisure activities and another providing a range of leisure activities for young people with autism.
Frankie said: “The support of the Wilton site companies will be invaluable in getting these and other schemes off the ground and we’re extremely grateful to our neighbours for their support.”
Douglas Annan, Sembcorp’s Senior Vice President and Site Director and the representative of the six site companies, said: “We are fully supportive of the Trust and applaud its energy in fostering greater community spirit and creating opportunities for young people and new businesses in the area by utilising resources available within the community.
“We were hugely impressed by the drive and determination shown by Frankie and his team and can see real potential in the pre-employment programme that we wish to encourage.”

Kraftilicious Open Day at Inflexions, 18 High Street, Redcar, TS10 3DU
A new business has been set up at Inflexions to get teenagers with autism or learning disabilities into work. The shop on the high street, called Kraftilicious, is selling Christmas goods, all of which are made by the teenagers. The idea came from Frankie Wales - his daughter has autism and he noticed there are few opportunities for school leavers. "Imagine being at school for 14 years and then suddenly you are out in the big wide word. "It is difficult enough but with a learning difficulty it is an absolute nightmare. These kids can give so much to companies and can do so much." Kraftilicious gives teenagers the opportunity to practice skills they will need in the workplace. It is now encouraging larger businesses across the region to get involved and use the skills available. "It proves we have got some really committed individuals who would be right for employment within the North East and we need that commitment to just make sure the economy continues to come out of recession." Craig Warkman from Greggs plc said the teenagers are now setting up a website and doing market research to test what will sell well in the New Year.
